Presentation about how Machine Learning is used at Embark Studios to make video game characters come alive.
We use Reinforcement Learning to make our characters move in physically-based environments, to remove the need for complex animations which would otherwise be required for such environments.
We also want interactions with our characters to be unique and flexible, so we are using Language Models to do that. We create a text representation of the world around our characters and we use it together with the user input to prompt a fine-tuned language model to generate a response. In this way our characters can respond to user’s questions in a relevant and entartaining way.
